Top Branch Studios ("we", "us") built Giggle Gaps as a game for families. This policy explains what information we collect and how we use it.
Giggle Gaps is free to play. In the future, the app may offer optional purchases or display advertisements. This policy will be updated before any such changes take effect.
We collect anonymous usage events — such as which story templates are viewed and whether stories are completed — to understand how the app is being used and to improve it. These events contain no personally identifiable information.
You can browse and play without an account. If you choose to sign in — using Google, Apple, or an email address — we store the email address associated with that account, along with the stories you create and your saved preferences, so that they are available when you return.
You can permanently delete your account at any time from the Account screen in the app. Deleting your account removes your stories, votes, and preferences from our database as well as the sign-in record itself. Instructions are also available at gigglegaps.com/delete-account.html.
We use Mixpanel for anonymous analytics. Mixpanel receives event data only — we never send your name or email address, and we do not use advertising identifiers. To distinguish one session from another, Mixpanel assigns a randomly generated identifier that is not linked to you personally. We have disabled IP-based geolocation, so your location is not derived from your connection.
Analytics are used solely to understand how the app functions and how to improve it. They are never used for advertising, ad targeting, or building a profile of any individual. Mixpanel's privacy policy is available at mixpanel.com/legal/privacy-policy.
We use Google Firebase Crashlytics to detect and diagnose crashes so we can fix them. When the app crashes or encounters an error, Crashlytics records diagnostic information including the type of device, operating system version, app version, and a technical stack trace describing where the problem occurred. It also uses a randomly generated installation identifier to group reports from the same installation.
Crash reports never include the content you create — story text, the words you fill into blanks, your name, or your email address. Firebase's privacy information is available at firebase.google.com/support/privacy.
The app currently shows no advertisements. If ads are introduced in a future version, this policy will be updated prior to that change. Any advertisements shown alongside content for children will be configured for child-directed treatment with non-personalized content only, in compliance with COPPA and Google's Families Policy.
Giggle Gaps is designed for family use, including children under 13. Playing requires no account, and no personal information is collected from anyone who plays without signing in.
Where an account is used, it is intended to be created and controlled by a parent or guardian, and the only personal information collected is the email address associated with that account. Accounts and all associated data can be deleted at any time from the Account screen in the app.
The anonymous identifiers used by our analytics and crash reporting, described above, are used only to understand how the app functions and to fix problems — never to contact anyone, to advertise, or to build a profile of a child.
We are building a parent-facing hub (Treehouse) through which parents will be able to create and manage child profiles. When that feature launches, child profiles will be created and controlled exclusively by a verified parent or guardian. We will update this policy with full details — including what is collected, how it is used, and how parents can review or delete their child's data — before that feature becomes available.
We do not use advertising identifiers for children, and any advertisements shown alongside child-directed content will use non-personalized, child-directed treatment only.
If you believe we have inadvertently collected personal information from a child under 13, please contact us at the address below and we will delete it promptly.
We do not use cookies for advertising or cross-site tracking. On the web version, our analytics provider stores a randomly generated identifier in your browser so that repeat visits can be counted without identifying you. Signing in also stores a session token on your device so you stay signed in between visits.
Anonymous analytics data is retained for 12 months, after which it is deleted from Mixpanel. Crash reports are retained according to Firebase Crashlytics' standard retention period. Account data — your email address, stories, and preferences — is retained until you delete your account, at which point it is removed from our database.
If we make material changes — particularly before introducing ads, purchases, or any form of account creation — we will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. Continued use of the app after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
